Approved by the Tennessee Board of Dentistry, this 6-hour hybrid course provides students with detailed knowledge of sealant application including placement, infection control guidelines, and sealant material. Two-hour online portion will be completed prior to 4-hour in-person clinical portion to be held on-campus.
Students currently enrolled in the TCAT-Murfreesboro Dental Assisting program or currently registered dental assistants will be eligible to submit the certification application and fee to the State of Tennessee Board of Dentistry after completing this course and successfully passing the final exam with a 75%. The student will be issued a temporary sealant application certificate to a 90-day externship in the office of an employer/supervising dentist. During this externship, the following sealants must be successfully placed and receive an approval signature: minimum of (4) maxillary permanent molars, minimum of (4) mandibular permanent molars, and minimum of (2) premolars.
